How We Verify

Water Fire Mold Lookup exists because credentials in the restoration industry are easy to claim and rarely checked. Our answer is simple: we never take a provider's word for a credential. Every certification and licence on this site is checked against the body that issued it.

The rules we hold ourselves to

  1. Primary sources beat everything. A state registry outranks any directory, review site, or the provider's own marketing.
  2. Every verified fact shows its source and date. If we can't tell you where a fact came from, we don't publish it.
  3. Absence of a record is not an accusation. Some states publish only current licensees — a firm missing from such a file may simply have let a licence lapse, or never needed one. We report exactly what the public record shows, and never label a business "unlicensed" from bulk data alone.
  4. Certification ≠ services offered. Certifications describe verified training. What a firm chooses to offer is its own claim — we label self-reported information as self-reported.
  5. Payment never touches ranking. Sponsored placements are labeled, separate, and have no effect on organic order. This is a founding rule.
  6. Cross-verification is disclosed. Firms confirmed in two independent registries carry a cross-verified badge; single-source records don't.

What we don't verify (yet)

Insurance coverage, equipment, staffing levels and reviews are not yet independently verified — where shown, they are labeled as provider-supplied. Cost data is not published at all until we have a source we'd defend.

Found an error?

If any credential on this site doesn't match the issuing body's record, we want to know: report a correction. Corrections are re-checked at the source and fixed within one refresh cycle.
